The Liebling Story

Pronounced "Leeb-ling,” the name is a nod to Britta’s background and first language: German. Growing up, her family used the word as a nickname to address their dog Linus, who was dearly cherished. When it came time to choose a name for the pet bed (her own labor of love!), it was the perfect choice. In a wonderful linguistic twist, Liebling also fortuitously combines the English words “lie” (i.e. to rest, sleep) and “bling” (popular vernacular for luxury).

Britta Butler is an award-winning interior designer (A.B. Harvard, MArch MIT) with her firm B ² Design. During her over 15 years in the industry, she scoured hundreds of stores around the world while sourcing for her clients’ homes, trying to find a pet bed that was able to stand alone as a beautiful piece of furniture. This proved to be nearly impossible; everything available on the market was either cookie-cutter, poor quality, or unattractive. After years of fruitless searching, she finally decided to design one herself. Britta spent over a year drawing, fabricating and testing a customizable bed made to fit into any high-end interior, as comfortable as it is beautiful, and durable enough to withstand daily, real-life use.
